A cake smash is thirty minutes of a person who has been alive for exactly one year discovering that dessert has no rules. It deserves better than a bright white studio and a countdown. I shoot it the way I shoot everything — patient, close, reading the light — so the frosting, the hesitation, and the moment it all goes wonderfully wrong are kept exactly as they happened.

Because I work in stills and film at the same time, you get both from one session and one pair of eyes: photographs to print and a short film like this one, graded the same way, telling the same story. No second crew, no re-staging the smash for a different camera.

Sessions run at your home or a location we pick together, anywhere in Sydney. You bring the one-year-old and the cake; I'll read the room from there.
